Shower Pods: A Small Footprint For Small Spaces

The first, and most obvious, advantage of a shower pod for a small bathroom is its small footprint. This makes it possible to slot a shower pod into a space where a larger, traditional shower simply wouldn't fit.

However, there are other benefits to designing with shower pods. Different styles are available, allowing you to maximise space by choosing the pod that best suits your room. Among the most popular designs are corner shower pods and alcove units. Both of these take advantage of small areas. You might well be able to turn an awkward corner into a shower by installing a shower pod.

What's more, because a shower pod unit is self-contained, there's no need to worry about water spilling over the floor. The leak-proof units will prevent this from happening. This allows an ambitious architect to make the most of every square inch of space, maximising a small bathroom.

Installing A Shower Pod When Space Matters

Installing a traditional shower in a small bathroom can be a tedious and difficult process. Tiling is neither easy nor straightforward, and that's particularly true when you're working in a confined room, or one that's awkwardly shaped. By contrast, shower pod installation is incredibly easy. The self-contained pods are moulded ahead of time. They arrive in two or three sections which interlock together. The entire process requires just one person, and can be finished in a few hours.

Thanks to the easy installation process, a shower pod can be inserted into a bathroom space where a traditional shower may not be possible. It might be possible, for example, to turn a half-bathroom into a full one - adding instant value to a property.

The Lifespan of Shower Pods

Finally, shower pods are an effective solution over time. Their leak-proofnature leads to lower maintenance costs. When working with a small bathroom, architects usually have maintenance at the back of their mind. Over time, water damage can cause problems with the tiles; in a small space, replacing these may be incredibly difficult.

This is simply not the case with shower pods. Water damage is minimised, thanks to the self-contained nature of the unit. A problem with the shower pod won't automatically lead to problems across the bathroom - unlike a traditional shower.
