Shower Tray And Tiling
Using the more traditional ceramic or plastic shower trays and tiles, who was responsible for any leaks that would often materialise within a few months of the work being completed? In certain instances occupiers or managers might find themselves covered by an NHBC warranty, but there was no guarantee of that. In most circumstances the organisation had to foot the bill for leaks and water damege themselves from the estate management budget, even if the shower and tray itself was technically still under warranty (usually 2 - 5 years depending on the manufacturer).
Shower Pods – A Simple Solution To Warranty Worries
There is an alternative to escalating maintenance bills on tile and tray showers. At Advanced Showers, we have over 20 years’ experience in the design and manufacture of modular GRP shower pods. Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) is a material used in motor-body manufacturing (think F1 cars), roof panels, fish ponds, bath tubs, and even Olympic size swimming pools. All designed to keep water in – or out, if you’re thinking car bodies or roof panels. With its strength, durability, and water resistant properties, GRP has a guaranteed lifespan in excess of 50 years.
Our pods are manufactured in two, three or four sections, depending on the model. Arriving on site in modules, they are easily clipped together using specialist seals, to ensure no water can penetrate anywhere. This production and construction process provides a rigid shower pod that is fully waterproof.
In traditional bathroom design, a separate shower tray, tiles, and joints all have to be sealed to (hopefully) prevent any water leaks. With the pod’s shower base and sides forming one smooth unbroken unit, water has nowhere to go except down the drain.

We work regularly with the same architects, building companies, and facility managers involved in the upgrading and refurbishment of residential schools, colleges, and campuses, as well as in areas of the leisure industry. Our promise to clients is to deliver products of the highest quality, on time, and on budget.
In fact, earlier this year, we were expecting an order for a number of pods from a university campus in the Midlands which was being renovated. We had provided them a number of shower pods for the original conversion some eleven years earlier. With no order forthcoming, a telephone call was made to enquire if was there a problem.
The only problem, we were told, was they didn’t need to replace the shower pods, just the shower heads, as they were in a hard-water area and they were getting a little tired. While for a bottom tray and tiled shower, a five year guarantee could be deemed optimistic, we fully expect our GRP shower pods to provide fifteen to twenty years of trouble free, low maintenance service. It is unusual for a company to celebrate not getting repeat business, but this typical example is testament to the enduring quality and reliability of our shower pods – not to mention the long term value for money they offer customers.
